4-15之后也有offer[电话interview总结]

刚才在街上走，有人打我手机，一接，说英语，是密西根州立大学(MSU)电子工程系的一个印
度裔副教授(Associate Professor)。说他是做计算机结构和电路设计的，对我很感兴趣，
问了我很多问题，我在大街上边走边聊，说了大概15分钟。完了，他告诉我说他一个星期后
作决定，估计可能又来offer。所以各位申请留学的兄弟姐妹们：不要因为4-15就尚失希望，
一般说来，有大概1/4到30%的奖学金是在4-15后发出的。有的学校甚至4-15后才开始发奖学
金。我现在把这个电话interview总结一下：

Time: 10:30
P: professor
C: chen12

P: Can I talk with Chen12?
C: Yes? I am the guy you are calling to.

P: My name is XXX, I am working as a associate prof. in the dept. of ECE at
MSU. The graduate committee highly recommended you to me, so I want to talk
with you for a while. May I ask you some questions?
C: Sure, go ahead.

P: From your PS, you said you wanna be a faculty in the future, what is
your career plan, and why do you wan to be a faculty member?
C: No reason, I just love this profession. My parents are high-school
teachers, and I also work in a Chinese University as a teacher. Maybe it's
mor elike a family preference and heritage.

P: (smile for a while) What do you think is neceesary to be a good faculty,
and what is important for others to hire you as a faculty?
C: A tough question, let me think for a while, OK? (after about 20 seconds)
I think that a good faculty must have those characters: hardworking,
perseverance, modest and honesty. For myself, when I prepare myself as a
future faculty during my PhD study, firstly I want to have a lot of
publications, secondly I want to improve my spoken english and get some
teaching skill training, thirdly I want to do some public service to prove
I am not a selfish person since USA is a society highly emphasize on public
service.

P: Your spoken Englsih is pretty good. Where did you learn it?
C: (得意忘形)Thanks a lot. I have been to USA 2 years ago for an
international meeting. I made several USA friends. Also my GF is studying
in Purdue University. Those give me a lot of chance to sharpen my spoken
english.

P: Your GF is in Purdue? will you transfer there after you come to USA?
C:(猛抽自己耳光，不该说这些)No, I will not transfer to Purdue. This year I
also applied to Purdue and I think I am well-qualified, but they didn't
admit me. This really hurts me a lot!

接着他问了三四个技术问题，就结束了，告诉我："You are a very excellent
candidant and leave me deep impression. But I can not make my decision
right now. I will tell you my decision after one week. Bye"
C: bye, have a nice day!
