today is an important day for me, because i win myself. maybe it is not very high score for nns.but for me it is a very tough battle to get this score at the first time. i have been out of campus for eight years since i graduate from shanghai university of finance and economics. i have two kids, and just a housewife since i got usa.when i decide to apply master degree, i told my husband if i get 600 or above, i will just apply master degree, if i am fortunate to get 700, i will apply ph.d. but before the test, i got serious ill for two weeks. i think i can not success because i am so weak. but i have already registered the test, and no refund. so i encourage myself to take the test, i tell myself you must try, because you have the ability to win. so i win. i just say so , because i want to tell you that every one can win if you try your best. my english is not good, five years ago i just got 1995 in gre test. most of you are better than me. the factor that help me to win is the confidence and the ability to deal with problem when test. when you face difficult problem you should calm down, check the problem again to find whether you omit some clues. you can not get correct answer when misunderstanding the problem.
in addition, the jj is very important. i got fifteen jj in math, and five jj in verbal.you can review these jj four days before you test.even if you are too unfortunite to met jj, you also can grasp the clue of est idea to help solve other problems. i reviewed july, august, and septempter jj.sorry,i am too old to remeber others except for the jj i had met. the follwing are the jj i met in the test:
1.cr, the number of nurse (weaken)
frog in the pool(complete the sentence)
the scientist over forty lacking cretivity.
the oxygen in the wood used to make weapon as an evidence to support the conclusion that the climate in ancient xxx is wetter than today. ask you to support this conclusion. i choosed the first \\"the weapon was not made in other place.\\"
another cr is two experiment control, ask you to explain the contradict fact, i just remember the choice is c.
2 sc, it indeed occupys 1/2 part in verbal. i met four in the first five problems. the first problem is the jj \\"the baby born to the women over thirty years than (1)under it,(2)under born under it,(3)they were born under it. other two is sure to be wrong. i regret i had not think it when i reviewed jj. i am not sure to choose (1). it take me four minute time. what a waste! another problem i just remember \\" with the openning of xx\\", at first, i think this is wrong, but after i checked all the other answers, i think this is right. i can not remember others. there are three that i am not sure.this is the reason why i only got 35 in verbal.
(3)rc. i am fortunate to just met four articals and each is just forty lines. but i got two science articals, including astronaum,which is only one i can not understand, but the problem is simple. you only need to find the place in the artical and the answer is ok.the first one i met is the inflation problem.i am not sure whether it is jj. the question of this reading is somehow complex and you should think over.another reading is the color of leaf, this is the jj. the last reading is the historial view over the woman status. i feel it is simple perhaps because the reading is my strengthen.but you should think over them,logical thinking is the best way to attain the success in gmat.
(4) math is my headache, since i just got 750 in gre paper test and the full score is 800. so i pay more attention on math this time.i read the feifei,xu's book twice.and all the july,august and september jj. i met so many jj in my test although the number is different. for the method is the same. the first problem is x3+y4=5000(data), another is to ask what is the least n to ensure the 7!/n is not interga. all the problem is somehow difficult but because i had seen the jj, so i got 50, which is less than i expected.
i got the first score in kaplan(2003) 610,today i got 710, accuratly add 100.for me it is convincing that the kaplan score adds 100 is the score you can get. my princeton score is average 730, maybe if i am healther i will get 730.if you want to get higher score you must pay more attention to the og,not just the answer, but the clue of why. i read the og six times, and every time i can obtain new appreciation. read it, appreciate it as much time as you can.i also think og cr is enough, i read it twice. the reading ability can not improve in few days, gre reading can improve our reading ability, but the question is very easy while the gmat is somehow complex. the pace is very important, when i am taking test, i put the clock on the computer, so i can check the time and adjust the pace in time. i am not distracted by the clock.when i had sixteen problems while the time just remained twelve minutes. i decided to read the first sentence, it is fortunate that the question is not difficult. when i finished the time remained one minute. my math just finished five minutes ahead because i think this is the pace i need to avoid unneccessary mistakes.
the normal mood is the critical factor for me to win myself. i fell asleep at 10 clock the last evining without any nervous about the test.i didn't set up higher goal, just 600 enough,even though my friend tell me i can get 700 or higher. maybe you can learn something from me. the higher goal will become burden for you.tell yourself \\"calm down i will win myself\\"
now i must choose between the master and ph.d. it is a difficult choice. i am a teacher in college when i stay in shanghai, five years ago i dreamed i can get phd from usa., but now i am too old and have two kids. my husband encourage me to apply ph.d, i will think over.
