64、the following appeared in a memorandum from the director of human resources to the executive officers of company x.
“last year, we surveyed our employees on improvements needed at company x by having them rank, in order of importance, the issues presented in a list of possible improvements. improved communications between employees and management was consistently ranked as the issue of highest importance by the employees who responded to the survey. as you know, we have since instituted regular communications sessions conducted by high-level management, which the employees can attend on a voluntary basis. therefore, it is likely that most employees at company x now feel that the improvement most needed at the company has been made.”

1. scientist studies the migration trend of a group of geese. The group contains 30% male geese. Among the geese that later on migrated, 20% are male. What is the ratio of migration factor for male geese to the migration facotr for female geese? (migration factor for sex X = number of migrated individual with sex X/total number of individuals with sex X)

Note: I spent 3 mins+ on this question, suspecting something is missing in the stem. Later on, I figured out the unknowns can be eliminated in the last step. watch out.

Solution: Assume total geese X, of which Y migrated.
The answer is simple [(20%Y)/(30%X)]/[(80%Y)/(70%X)] = ...

2. Some guy has 6 albums of anthology from which he read one poem at least. All peoms in the albums are different. Did he read more than 6 poems from at least one of the album?
a) he has read 22 poems in total.
b) the numbers of poems he read from each album are all distinct.

Anwser: C
hint: 1+2+...+6 = 21, so to make it for 22, one of the them need to go above 6.

3. k, l, m are positive integers, does k has more prime factors than m
a) k = 30l
b) m = 10^k

Answer: C
Hint: k's prime factors include 2,3,5 while m's are only 2 and 5

4. sqrt{2sqrt(63) + 2/[8 + 3sqrt(7)]}

Answer: 4
Hint: 1/[8 + 3sqrt(7)] = 8 - 3sqrt(7)

5. two right cylinders, A and B. radius of A is 2 times radius of B. height of A is half the height of B. If B's radius is x and B's height is y. What is the difference between surface area of A and that of B.

Solution:
A's suface 2*pi*(2x)^2*(y/2) + pi*2*(2x)*(y/2)
B's surface 2*pi*x^2*y + pi*2xy
Difference = A's - B's

Additionally, 90% of the Math JJ posted earlier today by NeTman also showed up in my exam. So, questions on the same day seem to overlap A LOT.

A few corrections though:

NeTman13: It was asking \\"the hundreds digit of\\", not \\"the hundredth of\\". The answer 4 is correct.
(I couldn't believe I failed this one, a JJ question I worked out earlier. I selected the right answer and then somehow mysteriously changed my mind thinking that the second digit from right after the decimal point should be the hundreds. \\"Oh, my god, I almost did it wrong\\", I said to myself with a relief. However, IMMEDIATELY after clicking \\"confirm\\", I realized my stupidity. Afterwards, for the next whole minute, I was like a mummy, gazing into the monitor with palm cold sweating and mind freezed ... a story to be continued ...)

/*update on 011804*/
NeTman16: The question was \\"How many results are there in which J complete ahead M\\"
Ans: P(5,5)/2
/* end of 011804 */

NeTman19: The two point given are the diagonal points of the square. The answer is 10sqrt(2).

[logistics]

The San Jose Testing Center I examed host many different exam in the same room. Hence, they don't watch over you while you are in the test, meaning:
1) you CAN take breaks for more than 5 minutes. (both my breaks exceeds 5 min.)
2) you CAN, if you choose, to take as much time as you want to write down the whole template(s) from you mind for your AWA on a piece of paper after you have checked in to a PC and before the clock starts ticking. However, I didn't find myself that excited by this discovery.

[Note]

1. In term of recollecting JJ, NeTman and the earlier folks are truly my heros. I tried hard to remember them and was even distracted during the exam by trying subconsciously to remember them. I attribute the problem to \\"short term memory loss\\", a typical symptom caused by aging. So, young guys, hurry up, before the devil comes to you.

2. My personal contact information including email, MSN id, home phone in US is available upon request. My priorities in handling your inquiry is determined primarily by the contributions you have done to this website.

BTW. I still have a unfinished story to tell. Although I have it in my mind and plan to put it down in Chinese, my pinyin input is too terrible to facilitate the writing. (Can you imagine the frustration after trying zhou, zhuo, zho, zo, zuo and still cannot figure out the right spelling?). Fortunately, not many people, I suppose, will be interested in reading it anyway.

[ATTENTION]

Since people organizing JJ are way too overloaded, if you have any question regarding the Math part I provided, PLEASE REPLY DIRECTLY TO ME OR MY POSTING. , for the next few days I will keep an eye on it. BTW, for those you who post JJ in the future, I sincerely suggest that you attach a brief hint/explanation to off load the works of future JJ organizer.

[AI topic 999: ]

Some people believe that online JJ is helpful to many gmaters becuase people score higher with JJ's help and thus become more competitive in B-school application. Others, citing the much inflated gmat score and intensified competition for the limited fix quota offered to Chinese students, consider JJ detrimental and the posting of JJ harmful to some exam takers in China.

In your view, to what extent ... [30 min]
