According to ejiaxing, White Pine County, Nevada was established in 1869 and is located in the eastern part of the state. Named for the abundant white pine trees that once grew in the area, White Pine County was originally home to several Native American tribes who hunted and gathered food in the area. In 1868, the first permanent settlement was established when a group of Mormon settlers arrived in Ward Creek Valley to establish a ranching community. Over the next several decades, White Pine County saw an influx of miners during the silver rush of 1869 as well as ranchers and farmers looking to take advantage of the fertile land. Today, White Pine County is home to several small towns such as Ely which still retains much of its original charm from its days as a mining town. Visitors can still explore its many historical sites from its past as well as enjoy outdoor activities such as camping and hiking trails throughout its vast landscape. White Pine County, Nevada is served by two public school districts: the White Pine County School District and the Ely Elko County School District. The White Pine County School District operates seven elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools, while the Ely Elko County School District operates one elementary school, one middle school and one high school.
